Celent’s P/C Claims System Vendor Report Profiles Exigen as a "Good Choice"

San Francisco, Calif., September 12, 2005
Exigen Group today announced that Celent, LLC, a leading research and advisory firm focused on insurance technology strategy, has recognized Exigen’s Insurance Process Backbone as a “good choice for a carrier looking for a claims system built on an open, standards-based architecture." Exigen is one of 14 comprehensive claims solutions from 12 vendors profiled in Celent’s recent P/C Claims System Vendor Profiles report.

Deciding whether to deploy a new comprehensive claims solution is a major decision for both the business and technology sides of an insurance company, stated the report. However, the report outlines several compelling reasons to make the claims process a “competitive weapon.”  Claimants are demanding faster, fairer, and more transparent settlements. Adjusters need a desktop with easy access to complete, digital format information. They also must be able to work efficiently with repair shops, contractors, medical providers, and attorneys. Claims managers should be able to easily design (and redesign) best-practice processes and specify optimal decision rules. The IT group requires a claims solution that “works and plays well with others” through use of a standards-based, services-oriented architecture with externalized, agile business logic and easy to customize presentation layers.

Donald Light, the lead author of the report, stated, “All in all, Exigen Insurance Process Backbone is a good choice for a carrier looking for a claims system built on an open, standards-based architecture. The solution also provides carriers with significant control over processes and rules, and the ability to use the same process backbone for policy administration or billing. Exigen will become an even stronger choice over time as its functional capabilities continue to evolve.”  Two insurance companies were cited as Exigen customer references in the report.
