Exigen Platform

The Exigen Suite of core solutions are created with Exigen Platform — a collection of integrated component services based on service-oriented architecture. These components provide the foundational technology and essential functionality required to enable rapid implementation of solutions that modernize all core insurance operations.

Exigen Platform is a modern, services-oriented architecture platform using open technology standards. It provides tightly integrated but loosely coupled component services with rules and tools for rapid configuration and deployment of insurance solutions. This relieves insurers from the maintenance of heavily customized and proprietary systems while providing flexibility and agility that accelerates time-to-market and responsiveness to business needs.

Exigen Platform includes foundational component services that provide common functions and services across all Exigen Insurance Solutions. These component services cover two broad areas of required functionality: common functions and services and insurance business functions and services.

Exigen Platform common functions and services:

  • Business Object Model (BOM):  A complete insurance business object model based on the ACORD P&C standards that assures the most up-to-date and relevant business information is sourced and shared by Exigen Suite's insurance-specific component services. The Exigen BOM extends ACORD where the standard may be lagging. It leverages ACORD as an reference wherever the standard is complete and adopted, yet is designed to be easily extended and mapped with a carrier’s proprietary information models or if a new standard emerges.
  • Business Process Management (BPM): The orchestration services that integrate and optimize business processes seamlessly across the enterprise via the Exigen Insurance Business Object Model. The BPM functions provide the capabilities to design, model, execute, and monitor workflows, activities, tasks, and transactions. BPM services can be leveraged to manage automated, manual or assisted activities and tasks.
  • Business Activity Monitoring (BAM): This set of services improves operational intelligence by capturing, analyzing, monitoring, and reporting data related to activities and events. BAM provides assurance for people accountability, process traceability, and technology reliability.
  • Business Analytics and Reporting: These services provide analysis and reporting of business performance data from the operational data-store and captured business activity databases. The reporting and visualization services support the creation of management reports and dashboards.
  • Document Generation & Production: These embedded services provide the facility to define document templates and the capability to generate documents on demand with personalized customer content and messages throughout the customer lifecycle..
  • Content Management Services (CMS): These services enable insurance processes to be totally paperless. All solution-generated documents as well as faxes, electronic images, scanned documents, emails and attached files are managed in a centralized repository and available as electronic files organized in e-folders. This puts non-encoded information at the user's fingertips regardless of physical location. CMS provides storage, retrieval, archival, version, and access control services for all electronic content in any format. It can retain the content in its original format or convert documents to Adobe PDF format.
  • Integrated Interaction Management: Exigen Insurance solutions support various interaction channels for process stakeholders, including: self-service, person-to-person, contact-center, and correspondence channels. These services enable integration of business processes, irrespective of the channel utilized and seamless transfer of tasks and activities between channels without any loss of information.
  • Business Rules Management (BRM): These services enable the externalization of business rules to quickly facilitate changes in the business logic associated with evaluating, underwriting and pricing of risks, as well as triggering, routing, assigning and monitoring processes, activities and tasks.
  • Integration Service Bus (ISB): Exigen Platform provides an open ISB that can be used to integrate Exigen Suite’s PolicyCore, BillingCore, ClaimCore and DistributionCore components, as well as enabling seamless integration with a customer’s existing legacy system or 3rd party software and services (e.g., credit bureaus, motor vehicle records, inspection services, etc.). The Integration Service Bus services internal inter-process communications and also provides services to support the integration of heterogeneous systems using techniques such as Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), Message Queues (MQ) and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) to provide access to information and functions within external systems.
  • Solution Administration and Configuration Services: This is a comprehensive set of services that are used for administration and configuration of deployed solutions. Business subject matter experts and administrators can define and manage a wide variety of functions using web-based admin tools. These functions include defining and managing business roles and user profiles, calendaring and scheduling automated processes, defining task models, managing rates and fees, managing business rule engines, etc. These services are designed to increase business self-reliance and minimize the burden of change on the IT.
